In a gesture of prudent economy, I have refused to give iTunes my Amex number. I purchase from iTunes cards only, thus ensuring that if I want something for my iPod, I have to want it ENOUGH to make a trip to Target for a card. It has stopped me from MANY a questionable purchase. (Although I will admit to having Toni Basil's "Mickey". What can I say? I am a child of the '80s.)
Anyway, if I'm feeling too lazy to go to Target, I start a wishlist so I'll know precisely what I want to buy when the time comes. Right now at the top is Jenny Dalton's Fleur de Lily. Someone on facebook recommended it, and I'm intrigued, both by her music and the ladylike strands of pearls she's wearing on the album cover. Hmmmm....just occurred to me to go find her on Pandora. Time to set up a new station!
I do the same thing. iTune cards only. Keeps music binges under control:
On my wishlist: Tom Waits, The Heart of Saturday Night
I'm not a Tom Waits fan...but I heard this song and for some reason...it jerked at something inside of me.

I love Pandora! How could I not adore something that stops at my merest request doing things I don't like, does more of what I do like without me having to ask, makes available lots of good information about what's going on at any given moment (but doesn't beat me over the head with it) and resumes silence when I am ready? That such pleasures come with music is almost too much to bear. Still, I wish I could make similar arrangements in other areas of my life.
