In which I am woozy
On Thursday I got to experience one of my very favorite things in the world: general anesthesia. (For a perfectly inconsequential and benign purpose, I promise.) But Versed was involved, and I am a very big fan of Versed and the good doctors who administer it. Anesthesiologists do God's work, you know.
Anyway, the aftereffects of the Versed are long gone, but I am still floating gently on a cloud of hydrocodone which makes concentration a wee bit of a challenge. Anticipating a few days of idle bed rest, I amassed a stack of books and DVDs. Among the books are a few Agatha Christie novels of the more obscure variety, a chick-lit vampire book, something called The Bombshell Manual of Style, and most ambitiously of all, In Search of the Lost Feminine by Craig S. Barnes. I have also discovered a few more things for my wish list, namely almost everything published by Rue Morgue. If you aren't familiar, Rue Morgue is a press that is devoted to reissuing books from the Golden Age of Mystery. You can order directly from Rue Morgue, and while I am not a fan of the extremely white paper they use--the contrast between the paper and the print is a bit jarring to the eyes--their choice of reissues more than makes up for it. I am personally smitten with the delightful Lady Lupin Lorrimer series. So, bouquets to them for bringing some truly delicious books back into print. http://www.ruemorguepress.com/ Go and give them a look. The only way they could be any more wonderful is if they included Versed with each order.
